Stonechair Capital

People with Energy

J. Christopher McLean
Chris has been an active participant in venture capital and energy projects throughout his entire nearly 20 year career. Before starting Stonechair Capital in 2009, he was the Head of Capital Markets, and the Senior Investment Banker at a resource focused boutique bank and the VP of International Opportunities at a national firm. This is where he first had his initial exposure to energy and Africa as a combination. His experience with public and private companies has allowed him to finance, advise, and lead projects throughout the Middle East and Africa for nearly 20 years. The family office and PE experiences since 2008 have made African focused investments the priority of the firm continuing the experiences had earlier. Taking a phrase from Goethe to heart Chris, "investigates what is and not what pleases" about energy investments in Africa. Stonechair represents the culmination of the family office and PE worlds for the McLean family and its African investments.
